Founder of the Law Offices of Jon Jacobs
Jon Jacobs started out not wanting to be a lawyer, but it became a calling. For Jon, fighting for individual rights is quite literally in his blood. Below, he shares his transition from an everyday consumer into a fierce legal advocate in his own words.
The Fire Inside: My First Fight at 21 in San Jose
I didn’t like school, and I certainly didn’t like lawyers. But after working hard from the age of 13, earning, investing, and saving up for eight years, I finally bought my first condo in San Jose, California, at just 21 years old.
That condo faced a beautiful, 11-acre natural open-space greenbelt with a clear view of Almaden Lake. It was my piece of the world. However, soon after I moved in, the city sought to rezone that natural greenbelt to accommodate high-density, four-story buildings. The project threatened to block everyone’s views, destroy the open space, and replace nature with concrete and loud city noise.
Having no legal training at the time, I stepped up to lead our homeowner community. I aggressively fought the developers, the city planning commission, and the city council. We lost that battle, but the defeat taught me a critical life lesson: the other side won because they had high-priced lawyers, and we did not. I realized right then that without professional legal advocacy, regular people will always get pushed around by powerful entities.
Take Two: Standing Up to Comcast in Roseville
Driven by that experience, I decided to become the advocate I wished we had back in San Jose. I attended Santa Clara University School of Law, where I focused on gaining the tools necessary to tip the scales of justice back in favor of everyday individuals. Following graduation, I was officially admitted to the State Bar of California in 1999.
It didn’t take long for my new legal skills to be put to the test in my personal life. After moving to Roseville, California, a massive utility corporation, Comcast, dug up my front yard without permission to install a heavy equipment “dog house” tie-in box. They assumed I would just accept the property damage and the eyesore.
They were wrong. Equipped with my legal education, I fought them tooth and nail. I held them accountable to local utility regulations and property rights, ultimately forcing a multi-billion-dollar corporation to completely back down and repair my yard. It was a sweet victory, and it solidified my purpose.
The Calling: Why I Chose California Lemon Law
Shortly after the Comcast dispute, my life expanded and I had two little kids to protect and provide for. It was during this pivotal time that I looked at the legal landscape and realized where California consumers were getting hurt the most: auto manufacturer defects.
When you buy or lease a new car, you are investing your hard-earned money, much like I did with my first condo in San Jose. A vehicle is supposed to be a safe, reliable means to get your family to work, school, and back home. Yet, when auto manufacturers sell consumers a defective “lemon” and refuse to properly buy it back or replace it, they act exactly like the abusive city councils and utility monopolies I fought early in my life.
I realized that California consumers don’t just need a standard attorney; they need someone who genuinely detests seeing people get pushed around by corporate bullies. That is why I dedicated my practice to California Lemon Law. I bring the exact same grit, meticulous attention to detail, and refusal to back down to every single vehicle defect case I handle.
What to Do Now if You Think You Have a Lemon
- Do not wait for the manufacturer to do the right thing on its own. They will not.
- Gather every repair order from every dealer visit right now, before records get harder to find.
- Calculate your total days out of service across all visits. Thirty cumulative days is a legal threshold that matters.
- Call us for a free case evaluation. The sooner you act, the more options you have. We handle Song-Beverly claims statewide across all of California.
Fee Case Evaluation
Whether you purchased your vehicle at a dealership in San Diego, commute through Beverly Hills, or are dealing with a defective truck up in Sacramento, our firm represents clients statewide across every corner of California. We go after the manufacturer to pay our fees as part of your settlement when we win. Visit lemonbuyback.com to get started. California consumers only.
